Why didn't this make the news?? Although the facts surrounding the story are disturbing, it also shows the best of human nature which I think we don't see enough of.
And after working in the business for nearly 10 years, I can answer my own question. It's because something like this doesn't grab the attention of people and keep them coming back to see "what happens next", hence higher ratings, hence more money for the network. As a news reporter, I used to actively seek out stories like this.
Know what? It was always the first story to get dropped if time was short.
